ACHL’s mandate in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) is guided by the World Health Organization (WHO) definition of reproductive health, which “implies that people are able to have a responsible, satisfying and safe sex life and that they have the capability to reproduce and the freedom to decide if, when and how often to do so.”
In line with this, ACHL concentrates its efforts on meeting the sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents and youths. The organization contributes to the provision of reproductive health and HIV/AIDS information and services for young people, including:
Family planning — with special emphasis on condom programming.
Gender-based violence prevention.
Prevention of drug abuse.
Improving access to HIV counselling and testing.
Syndromic management of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
In addition, ACHL provides youth-friendly services designed to reach young people and key populations with comprehensive sexual and reproductive health interventions that promote informed choices, safety, and well-being.
